The bacteria Staphylococcus aureus taken from the pus of a boil and grown on blood agar. This is a Gram- positive non-motile spherical bacteria associated with most suppurative infections in humans (boils, abscesses), respiratory infections, and sometimes producing toxins responsible for food poisoning. This bacteria is haemolytic (it causes red blood cells to burst). Some Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria are also present on the agar plate.
