Agrobacterium tumefaciens on a damaged tobacco leaf. This soil bacterium is a dangerous plant pathogen causing 'crown gall disease' in over 10,000 different plant species. This bacterium, however, is being used as a vector for genes to be introduced during genetic manipulation of plants to be altered.
