Several species are of great economic importance, being used in the brewing & baking industries because they secrete enzymes which convert sugars into alcohol & carbon dioxide. The species of yeast shown here is one of the ones used in brewing. Magnification: x3400 at 35mm size. Tinted gold. Original is BW print B250/05M.
