Caption

Natural gas condensate well. View across part of a production site where natural gas condensate is processed. The condensate is associated with natural gas deposits. The condensate is removed from the raw natural gas by cooling below the hydrocarbon dew point. The condensate typically contains hydrocarbons, such as short-chain alkanes and aromatic compounds such as benzene. They normally also contain impurities such as sulphur dioxide, carbon dioxide and mercaptans. Photographed at the Yuzhno-Russkoye plant in the Yamal-Nenets region of Russia, where the gas reserve is estimated at 1 trillion cubic metres of gas.
