Morel (Morchella esculenta) fungus growing on a forest floor. The fruiting body of this fungus, seen here, is yellowish-brown in colour with an irregular honeycomb structure. It is edible and highly prized, but fairly uncommon. Produced in late spring, it grows in open scrub or woodland or on waste ground, throughout North America and Europe.
