Caption

Dead Man's Fingers (Xylaria polymorpha) on a tree trunk. A common inedible fungus, Dead Man's Fingers grow on decaying hardwood tree stumps all year round. They reach as much as 8 centimetres in height and 3 centimetres in width. The outer skin releases black spores.
