Greasy tough-shank mushrooms. Group of greasy tough-shank mushrooms (Collybia butyracea) at different stages of growth. Mushrooms are the fruiting bodies, reproductive structures, of fungi. The gills on the underside of the caps contain millions of spores, the reproductive cells of fungi. Photographed in October on Dartmoor, UK.
