Two-jet event. UA1 detector at CERN, Geneva, showing a typical two-jet event in which two quarks have collided & annihilated into pure energy, re- materialising as two new quarks which in turn decay into two high-energy jets (blue & purple tracks) of hadronic matter. The display also shows the yellow & green tracks of lower energy particles produced in the event. The computer graphic display gives an outline of the UA1 detector in red. Event 697).
