Jew's ear fungus (Auricularia auricula- judae) on a dead elder branch. This fungus is found throughout the year but particularly in winter and spring. It is edible, though is reported to have little flavour. It is used in east Asian cookery. Photographed in Oxfordshire, UK, in November.
