Caption

Shaggy ink cap (Coprinus comatus) with black gills. This fungus is deliquescent. It absorbs water molecules from its surrounding environment causing it to become scaly and turn black. It is only edible when young and white in colour. Photographed in September, in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, UK.
