Caption

Bridal veil fungus. Flies on the cap of a bridal veil fungus (Dictyophora multicolor). The tip of this fungus is covered in a foul-smelling spore- laden slime. The smell attracts the flies, to which the spores (reproductive cells) stick and so are dispersed. Photographed at Mission Beach, Queensland, Australia.
