Parasitic fungus growing in the remains of a dead spider. The fruiting bodies of the fungus are visible (white flower-like appendages). Parasitic fungi live on a host animal or plant, which it uses as a source of nutrients. Eventually the fungus may cause the death of the host, as shown. Photographed in the Amazon rainforest at the Tiputini Biodiversity Station, Ecuador.
