Blossom end rot. Tomatoes (Lycopersicon esculentum) with blossom end rot caused by calcium deficiency. A lack of moisture or variation between dry and wet conditions is also to blame. A moist lesion forms on the bottom of the fruits, and may split, allowing bacterial or fungal infections to take hold. Calcium application and permanently moist soil may prevent the problem.
