Pennsylvanian oil belt. 19th Century image across a large number of oil wells on an oil field in Pennsylvania, USA. On this belt, covering an area 2 miles long and less than one mile wide, were over 150 active oil wells, all operating at once. Photographed on the west side of Triumph Hill, near Tidioute, Warren County, Pennsylvania, USA, circa 1870.
