Willard Parker (1800-1884), US surgeon. Parker is best known for the advances he made in several areas of surgery, including those in bladder operations and clinical teaching practices. He also helped found public health organisations. He obtained his medical degree from Harvard in 1830, and worked in the USA and Europe before being appointed professor of surgery in New York in 1839, where he remained for the rest of his career. Photographed circa 1855-1865.
