Marine sensor research. Researchers working on marine sensor technologies designed to measure temperature and salinity, as well as concentrations of ions such as nitrates, nitrites, and phosphates. The aim is to miniaturise the sensors as much as possible, using lab-on-a-chip technology. These tests were carried out in 2009, by researchers from the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton, and the National Oceanography Centre, both in Southampton, UK.
