Nasal polyp surgery. Surgeon using endoscopic tools to excise a polyp from a patient's nose through his nostrils. The use of an endoscope allows the surgeon to observe the polyp on a screen (upper left) displaying images transmitted by a camera on the tip of the endoscope. This allows delicate operations to be carried out with a high degree of accuracy. Polyps are a form of benign growth that may need to be removed if they grow too large. In this case, the polyp had grown large enough to block the patient's nasal passage, and surgery was carried out to remove it.
