Caption

Century Indian miniature in an early wood frame. Krishna is a Hindu deity, an avatar of Vishnu, here shown with characteristic blue skin playing a flute. Below him is his gopi consort Radha and a cow (emphasizing his role as the divine herdsman). Krishna had a no meat diet, and vegetarianism is practiced by his followers who will not eat food that could not be ritually offered to him.
