1909 Illustration of Charles Darwin in tree with young chimpanzee (left) and orangutan (right) by the German artist Thomas Theodor Heine in the periodical "Simplicissimus" 15th February 1909. This forms a detail of a larger image where Ernst Haeckel offers Darwin a halo on the centenary of his Birth 1809 (and 50 years since publication of "The Origin of Species" 1859). Darwin had died in 1882.
