Caption

Western grapeleaf skeletonizers. Caterpillars of the western grapeleaf skeletonizer moth (Harrisina brillians) feeding on a grape leaf (Vitis sp.). All five larval stages of this moth feed on grape leaves; this fifth stage, or instar, feeds on the thin leaf layer left by the earlier larvae. The larvae defoliate vine leaves and may even feed on the grapes themselves.
