Particle collision. Computer display of the spray of particles created in an electron-positron collision in the L3 detector at CERN, the European centre for particle physics near Geneva. L3 is one of 4 giant particle detectors at the LEP electron-positron collider. The display shows a close-up of the central area of the L3 central detector (white lines). The variously coloured boxes and circles mark "hits" by particles in the detector's instruments. The coloured lines are the tracks of the particles created in the electron-positron annihilation at the centre of the frame.
