Charles Gilmore (1874-1945). Historical image of the American palaeontologist Charles Whitney Gilmore with vetebrae (back bones) from a Diplodocus longus dinosaur. Gilmore was a professor of the Smithsonian Institution and is best known for describing and naming a number of North American and Mongolian dinosaurs. Photographed in 1924.
