Alexander Sergeevich Serebrovsky (1892-1948), Soviet geneticist. Serebrovsky was one of the pioneers of the study of genetics in the Soviet Union. He developed the principles underlying fields such as population genetics. He also worked on pest control, and crop and livestock hybridisation and breeding. Serebrovsky founded and led the Department of Genetics at Moscow State University in 1930. He was elected a Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1933, and was made a member of the Lenin All-Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VASKhNIL) in 1935.
