This MRI is a sagittal view of the breast using a 3 tesla magnet. Several different sequences are used - some to show anatomy, others for pathology. This sequence uses the technique of dynamic contrast enhancement, in which any lesions or tumors will uptake more contrast than surrounding tissues, and give a brighter, hyperintense signal. This patient shows an enhancing area that is suspicious and was biopsied using MRI guided stereotactic technique, (two different angles for localization). The pathology reported benign tubular adenomatous lesion, (adenoma), and possibly adenomyosis. A six month follow up with MRI and/or ultrasound was recommended.
