Humanoid robot. Computer artwork of the the mobile robotic system known as 'Justin'. This robot has two five-finger hands on the end of its light-weight arms, and special sensors and cameras that enable it to produce a 3D reconstruction of its environment. It is hoped that in the future it could be taught to perform given tasks autonomously, including anything from making coffee to fixing satellites. However at the moment the emphasis is on 'robotic telepresence', where a human operator controls the robot from a distant location using a head-mounted display and a type of arm exoskeleton.
