Statue of Hygieia, Greek goddess of health, cleanliness and sanitation, hence the origin of the word 'hygiene'. She was the daughter of the god of healing, Asclepius. Her Roman equivalent was Salus, goddess of health, prosperity and the welfare of the Roman people. AD, excavated at Ostia. Vatican museum.
