Wood chip production. Wood chips being produced at a sawmill. The chips are produced during the cutting of logs into pieces of timber. The wood chips may be used for a variety of purposes. They may compressed to form boards ('chipboard') then laminated with an outer wood or plastic veneer, and sold as a cheap alternative to solid timber in the furniture industry.
