Oceania at night. Satellite image of city lights at night, centred on Oceania. North is at top. The region of Oceania consists of islands scattered through the western Pacific Ocean. Most of the islands are either uninhabited, or not densely populated enough for lights to be seen from space. The lights seen here mark cities in New Zealand (lower centre), Australia (lower left, from west to east: Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane), and Borneo and the Philippines (top left). Some of the more visible islands are Guam (left of top centre) and the Hawaiian islands (top right). For this area in the day, see E070/562.
