Sand storm. Satellite image of a sand storm moving from the Sahara Desert, Africa (right) over the Canary Islands (centre to centre left) in the Atlantic Ocean. Arid areas are brown, water is blue and clouds are white. Large plumes of wind- borne dust and sand extend into the Atlantic Ocean. Photographed in February 2001 by NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center's Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS) aboard the Orbview-2 satellite.
