Cape Evans hut. British explorer Robert F. Scott's (1868-1912) bed in the wooden hut he and his team built during the build-up to the 1910-1912 expedition to the South Pole. The expedition ended in failure, with the death of Scott and several of his men. The interior of the hut has remained largely untouched and many of the items are as the explorers left them. The hut is located on Cape Evans, Ross Island, Antarctica, and is part of the McMurdo Station, a research facility operated by the US government. Photographed in the 2005/2006 summer season.
