Greenland icebergs. View of compacted icebergs heading towards the open sea from the west of Greenland. The ice shelves around Greenland extend the furthest in winter. The rising temperatures and strong winds of spring break up the ice, and cause large icebergs to float southwards. This is the Ilulissat icefjord.
