Caption

Melting pack ice in the Arctic Ocean. Pack ice consists of blocks of ice floating on the surface of the water. It originates from broken icebergs, ice floes and sea ice, driven together by wind and sea currents to form a mass of ice. Much of the Arctic pack ice melts every spring. Photographed in Svalbard, Norway.
