Groyne remains. Damaged wooden groynes being battered by waves on the beach at Happisburgh, Norfolk, UK. The erosion of the coast along this part of Norfolk is partly caused by offshore dredging for sand and gravel for construction projects. Large areas of the coast have fallen into the sea over recent years and sea defences have now been abandoned in favour of a managed retreat.
