Lavic Lake seismic fault. A fault is a fracture in the Earth's surface along which one side has moved relative to the other. Sudden movements along seismic faults cause earthquakes. The Hector Mine earthquake occurred along this fault line on 16th October, 1999. Photographed in California, USA.
