Pululagua volcano caldera. The caldera (crater) is a transition zone between the lush cloudforest of the western Andean slopes and the dry inter-Andean valley. Pululagua has not erupted for around 2400 years. It stands 3356 metres tall just north of the equator and the Ecuadorian capital Quito.
