Mount Cotopaxi, Ecuador. Aerial photograph of Mount Cotopaxi which at 5,911 metres high, is one of the tallest active volcanoes in the world. The peak of Mount Cotopaxi is permanently covered in an ice cap. During previous eruptions, ash and lava combined with melted ice to cause mudflows that caused destruction to large areas at ground level.
