End of the world. Artwork of the Earth being roasted by the swollen, dying Sun. As the Sun ages, it uses up more and more of its hydrogen fuel, expanding as it does so. As it expands, it will heat the Earth until the Earth is lifeless and free of water, before engulfing it as the Sun swells into a red giant some 5 billion years in the future. After this, the Sun will contract rapidly into a white dwarf.
