Bering land bridge, artwork. The Bering land bridge (centre) joined Asia (left) and North America (right) during the last ice age, around 18, as much of the water on Earth was frozen at high latitudes due to lower average temperatures. The land bridge allowed the migration of humans from Asia to North America. Above the land bridge is the Arctic Ocean, below it is the Pacific Ocean.
