Folded rock strata of thinly bedded limestone sediments. Limestone is a silurian rock. Other silurian rocks include sandstones, shales and mudstones. These were laid down between 440 and 395 million years ago. Subsequent uplifting and folding of the land due to teutonic activity causes the bedding planes to fold.
