Rainbow Valley. View of a sedimentary cliff in Rainbow Valley. The sediment is fine-grained quartzite. Water has leached through the quartzite over geological time, depositing iron minerals in the upper levels. This iron-enriched quartzite is more resistant to weathering than the pale, leached quartzite below. Rainbow Valley is in Australia.
