Conglomerate. This rock is formed of pebbles cemented together by a sedimentary rock (light brown). The resulting structure is known as a conglomerate. In a conglomerate, the individual rocks are rounded due to the conditions in which the rock formed. It is thought that conditions that form conglomerates include storms depositing sediment on pebbles, and rivers in flood mixing up pebbles and sediment. This sample is 11 by 10 centimetres in size.
