Caption

Prehistoric ocean sediment. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of sand grains and foraminifera plankton shells from ocean sediment. These are indicative of the sediment found following the abrupt changes in ocean circulation of the North Atlantic. These changes occurred due to the glaciation (both freezing & thawing) during the Pleistocene epoch (1.8 million to 11,000 years ago). Magnification: x200 at 5x7cm size.
