Metamorphic rock. This contorted rock is of the Moine series, Morar Division. Two types of rock predominate in this sequence, psammitic (metamorphosed sandstones) and pelitic (metamorphosed clays, muds and silts). Photographed in the Knoydart penninsula, West Highlands, Scotland.
