Alkali-feldspar granite rock. Granite is a dark grey igneous rock, formed when volcanic magma solidifies under pressure in the Earth's crust. This granite is rich in alkali feldspar minerals. Feldspar describes the most common group of minerals in the Earth's crust. Alkali feldspars contain sodium and potassium. This sample measures 125 millimetres across.
