A crystal of imperial topaz. Topaz is a silicate of aluminium and fluorine and can occur in many colours including yellow, blue, green, violet, reddish-brown and colourless. Clear or finely- coloured varieties are used as gemstones. This specimen measures 10 x 4 cm and was found in Vermelhao's Mine, Ouro Preto, Brazil.
