A specimen of the mineral galena (lead sulphide). Galena is ususally found as compacted masses of cubic lead-grey crystals, these however are the rarer octahedral form. It is the most important ore of lead with silver as a frequent by-product. It is a common mineral appearing in various types of rocks.
