Galena. View of a sample of the mineral galena. Galena (lead sulphide) usually occurs as compacted masses of cubic grey crystals, such as these, although some possess a rarer octahedral form. A common mineral in various types of rocks, it is the most important lead ore and often contains deposits of silver.
