Peridot crystal. View of a peridot crystal, the gem variety of olivine. It has the chemical formula (Mg,Fe)2.SiO4. Peridot gems come from islands in the Red Sea, Burma, Norway, parts of the U.S. and even from some meteorites. Peridot is mentioned in the Bible as chrysolite.
