Chalcopyrite mineral. Surface of a sample of the mineral chalcopyrite. This mineral consists of the chemical elements copper (Cu), iron (Fe) and sulphur (S) in the ratio CuFeS2. These elements and their oxides give the surface of the mineral an iridescent sheen. Chalcopyrite is an important source of copper metal. This sample was found in Herault, France.
