Sample of colemanite. Colemanite is hydrated calcium borate found as splendid, prismatic crystals. It is semi-hard, light and exhibits perfect cleavage. Colemanite is an important ore of boron, and is formed in evaporite basins fed by geothermal springs. The largest deposits are in California, Turkey, Chile and Kazakhstan.
